In commemoration of the 70th Public Service Day on December 3, 2015, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, led the ceremony held in the courtyard of the Ministry of PUPR. Acting as the ceremonial inspector was Director General of Highways, Hediyanto W Husaini.

The ceremony was attended by the leaders and employees of the Ministry of PUPR. Also acting as ceremonial officers were the Secretary General of the PUPR Ministry, Taufik Widjojono as a prayer reader, the Director General of Water Resources as a Pancasila reader, Mudjiadi, the Expert Staff of the Minister for Development Integrity, Danis H. Sumadilaga as the opening speaker of the 1945 Constitution, the Expert Staff of the Minister for Relations Between Institutions, Khalawi Abdul Hamid as the reader of the promise of the Indonesian Employee Corps.

In his remarks, Minister Basuki invited his staff to make the fighting spirit of Sapta Taruna a foundation in developing the country. "Let's make the values of dedication, responsibility and courage of Sapta Taruna as inspiration to carry out the task of providing services to the community through infrastructure," he said.

It was set on December 3 as Public Service Day for commemorating and honoring the death of seven PU employees in maintaining the Headquarters of the Department of Transportation and Public Works at Gedung Sate, Bandung on December 3, 1945. The seven young fighters are now known as Sapta Taruna.

Minister Basuki again reminded his staff that the role of the Ministry of PUPR to realize reliable infrastructure in developing Indonesia was very strategic. "When building infrastructure, we are actually building a nation," he said.

In accordance with the development agenda and the Nawacita program, the targets to be achieved during the period 2015 - 2019 for the Bina Marga sector include, construction of 1000km of toll roads and 2,650km of new arterial roads to improve connectivity and reduce regional growth disparities;

In accordance with the theme of the commemoration of the 70th Public Service Day which is ‘Build Infrastructure for the Nation,’ Minister Basuki urged his staff to work harder, move faster, and always act appropriately.
