To reduce the density of traffic flow in the City of Semarang and Demak, the government feels the need to build a toll road that connects the area. "In the past year, the Semarang-Demak toll road development plan with elevated design has reached the auction stage. However, because in the adjacent location a retaining and tidal abrasion dike will be built, so we made a design change."
This was conveyed by the Director General of Highways, Arie Setiadi Moerwanto, while accompanying the Commission V Work Visit (Kunker) of the DPR to Demak on Thursday (02/02). Arie added that the change in toll road design was done for efficiency. "Of the total length of the Semarang-Demak toll road, 8km of them will be built on the embankment. This is done so that the government does not need to construct tolls and embankments in different locations. Because of the integrated development, it is necessary to change the design and also study an analysis of its environmental impact, "Arie said.
Although currently still in the EIA assessment stage, Arie is optimistic that the toll road construction and the embankment can be auctioned this year because the project has the full support of the DPR and the regional government.
Considering the statement of the Director General of Highways, the Chair of the DPR RI Commission V Kunker Team, Yudi Widiana Adia, stated that the DPR supports the acceleration of toll road construction on the sea embankment given the importance of the retaining embankment for residents living on the coast. "So far the program carried out by the central and regional governments to deal with tidal flooding and also congestion in Demak is relatively patchy. We want the program to be integrated so that the existing problems can be handled thoroughly. So when the government proposed construction of a toll road on the embankment, we were very supportive, "said Yudi.
Met at the same place, Head of the National Road Implementation Center VII, Achmad Herry Marzuki revealed that the tidal flood in the Demak area not only drowned residents' homes but also inundated the roads, including the Kaligawe road. Therefore, Kaligawe Road is included in the road section that will be handled this year.
"For the handling of the Semarang-Demak-Trengguli road along 87 Km, we carried out a reconstruction of the 3.2km road, namely on the 1km Kaligawe Road, the Semarang-boundary-Demak City-boundary road along 1.2km, and the Margoyoso-Jepara Regency Road along 1km. "
