Sumenep (Bina Marga) - Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives conducted a working visit (Kunker) to Sumenep Regency, East Java Province on Tuesday (20/3). The Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR represented by the Head of the VIII Surabaya National Road Implementation Center (Ketut Darmawahana) and Head of Conservation I, BBPJN VIII Surabaya Sodeli also visited the access road of the Trunojoyo airport and Kalianget port.

Sumenep Regency is located on the island of Madura, East Java Province, which has a tourist icon for the race of bull racing is building a better Trunojoyo airport in order to support the national tourism, but it is still constrained by access roads to the narrow airport.

The Ministry of Public Works through the Directorate General of Highways supports the construction of an access road to the Trunojoyo Sumenep airport where the airport has commercial flights in 2017, at the moment the airport is experiencing obstacles on the access road so the Sumenep district government is proposing to be assisted by the ministry of Pupr.

"Regarding access to the airport, it has indeed been proposed, so there is already a request from the regency, just wait for a letter of discretion and a budget, so that if the budget and a letter of desretion go out, we can carry out the widening access from the national road to the airport," Sodeli said.

At present the condition of the national road in Sumenep Regency that is included in BBPJN VIII Surabaya has a length of 50.87 Km from the total length of the national road in Madura 322.78 Km and bridge length 1803.10 Meters, where the total budget for the island of Madura in 2019 reached 92M down from 94M last year.
