The condition of national roads on the island of Madura, East Java was declared ready to face the flow of Lebaran. At the time of the field inspection by the Directorate General (DG) team of DGH last week, the national road on the salt-producing island was in reasonably good condition.

"We are moving from Surabaya to the east to Sumenep, relatively safe, only minor damage in the form of road wear, but can be handled immediately before the arrival of the mudik," said Head of the Urban Road Sub Directorate, Directorate General of Highways, Bambang Nurhadi who acted as the head of the team in the group the review.

Based on the team's observations, the locations predicted to be the bottleneck include the spill market locations that are spread from Pamekasan to Sumenep including the Camplong market, Tanjung market, Keppo market, Prenduan market, Kapedi market, Bluto market, Sumenep market and Marengan market.

In addition, the Directorate General of Highways also warned of two flood-prone locations, one each in Sampang due to the overflow of the Gunungeleh and Palenggiyan rivers and in Sumenep due to not functioning optimally due to blocked channels and the dimensions of the channel that need to be enlarged.

Just like in other areas, Madura also established a Lebaran Mudik Flow Alert Post by the Directorate General of Highways including on the Trunojoyo road (Km 112 + 000), Pamekasan. While the location of heavy equipment that is on standby is on No. Kemuning street 07 (Km 112 + 500), Pamekasan. Apart from being alerted to heavy equipment and staff, the post is also equipped with materials that can be used in emergencies.

"But in Madura, the culture is more crowded when Eid al-Adha than at Eid," said Bambang.

The field survey team also briefly observed the condition of the roads from Surabaya to Tripe. At the moment the section is running on the pre-road package through the long segment. The handling of the road at the site met the challenge of heavy traffic dominated by trucks and relatively short working hours only at night.

Based on the team's monitoring, some of the damage in the form of the moon was near the median of the road. Bambang explained, the condition was because trucks with heavy loads when crossing preferred to use the right lane that was close to the median of the road. This is to avoid collisions with motorbikes or public vehicles such as public transportation.

"The work continues in preparation for preparation, there is an overlay (thick layer plus asphalt), there is a grade raising (elevation of the road surface elevation) and handling of drainage for water flow. Even though easy road conditions will be safe, we also anticipate or be alert to weather anomalies in the form of high rainfall, "said Bambang.
