Jakarta - In four years (2015-2018), the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has built 164 suspension bridges with a total length of 39,798 meters. In 2019, 166 new bridges will be built, spread throughout the country.

The construction of a suspension bridge as one of the people's infrastructure will facilitate mobility and cut travel time between villages which previously had to rotate far due to being separated by Indonesia's geographical conditions, such as slopes, hills, ravines or rivers.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said, the presence of a suspension bridge was needed and welcomed by the community because the benefits were real. The construction of a suspension bridge uses mature design, starting from the selection of materials to the application of quality technology. Suspension bridge construction materials use domestic products with good quality, such as steel, cables and bolts.

"The presence of this bridge will facilitate and shorten the access of rural residents to schools, markets, workplaces, administer administration to the village or sub-district office and access to hospitality between residents," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono some time ago.

In 2018, the Ministry of PUPR built 134 suspension bridges, three of which are located in Madiun Regency. The three suspension bridges are located around the Mantingan-Ngawi-Maospati-Ponorogo-Caruban National Road Section, East Java.

Three suspension bridges in Madiun Regency have been completed, namely Kedung Manten in Mejayan District, Banjarsari in D light District, and Kedungrejo Bridge, Pilangkenceng District. Each bridge was built with a length of 42 meters and a width of 3-5 meters.

"Thousands of suspension bridges are still needed so there is no" Indiana Jones "bridge in Indonesia. We hope that in the future there will be no more school children hanging like "Indiana Jones," concluded Minister Basuki. (birkompu)
