The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General (DG) of Bina Marga signed a toll road contract for the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) section II (Rancakalong - Sumedang) phase II. The Cisumdawu Toll Road Section I and Section II are being implemented by the government, this is because the toll road section is still not economically feasible.

"We have just signed a contract for Cisumdawu which is part of the government's responsibility, 10.1 km and 472 meters tunnel, with a total contract value of Rp 3.4 trillion, the mechanism in this Chinese loan after signing the contract must be taken care of by the loan agreement, before there is a loan agreement before I can work, so I ask them to be able to speed up the process, I ask that these 3 months should be able to start work next year, usually long, so I encourage to be quick, "said Minister of PUPR Basuki met after the event.

On the occasion, Minister Basuki gave orders to his staff and asked the Chinese side to speed up the loan agreement process, said Minister Basuki to accelerate the start of construction after the signing of the contract today.

"It should also be noted by all of us, after this it is necessary to sign or loan agreement, from the embassy said that most of the process is on the Indonesian side of the total 28-month process duration, I beg you very much if this still happens I want to cancel this loan," said Basuki

Minister Basuki said that he wanted his staff and the Chinese side to commit to accelerating the process to 3 months, and if not met Basuki said he would cancel the loan and use the state budget for the work.

In accordance with the value stated in the contract, the contract value of Rp 3.48 trillion was carried out for phase II only, Minister Basuki said that phase I had already begun construction work for 6.35 km with a contract value of Rp 1.1 trillion.

"Phase II is more expensive because there are tunnels, more expensive units, the land for section II phase I has 93 percent progress is good, I ask that next year be completed, while land for phase II is already 80.12 percent" said Minister Basuki.

It is known that the overall construction of the Cisumdawu toll road is 60.27 km which consists of six sections. The government will work on two sections, namely Section I Cileunyi-Rancakalong along 12,025 km and Section II Rancakalong-Sumedang along 17.35 km. While the rest, namely Section III Sumedang-Cimalaka (3.75 km), Section IV Cimalaka - Legok (7.2 km) Section V Legok - Ujung Jaya (15.9 km) and Section VI Ujung Jaya - Dawuan (4,048 km) will offered to investors.

"Because the toll road construction costs are expensive, if offered to investors it will not sell because it is not economically feasible. In order to be feasible the government must help with development in two sections. So that investors will only work on the third to the sixth sections, but they will continue to operate from Cileunyi, "said Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hediyanto W. Husaini.

The work of Phase II phase II was carried out by the Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. consortium contractor. - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. - PT Nindya Karya (Persero) - PT. Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk.

It is planned that the construction will proceed to the first section of Cileunyi-Rancakalong starting next year. But Hediyanto added, the obstacle still faced was the availability of land that was not yet sufficient for construction work.

"The first section of free land is only 33%. But the first section can be fast because we are also again ramped up hopefully by the end of this year. When it's finished, it's easy to find investors. Because we have included this in the program so that next year we can start, "added Hediyanto
