The Directorate General (DG) of Bina Marga targets the construction of the Cisaronge bridge in Sumedang Regency, West Java, which is part of the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road, which can be completed within the next two months. At present physical progress in the field has reached almost 90 percent.

"At present the work on the bridge floors is just two months away," said Director General (Dirjen) of Bina Marga Hediyanto W. Husaini while reviewing the Cisumdawu toll road construction site with a group of journalists on Friday (18/12).

Hediyanto said, the uniqueness of the Cisaronge bridge is that it has a steel arch not at the top, the 350 meters long bridge actually places an 84 meter steel arch at the bottom. That is because the river water flow under the Cisaronge bridge is high enough so that it is judged not to drown out the steel arches.

"So it looks beautiful, even though this is actually not the first bridge whose arches are below," he continued.

On this occasion, the Director General of Highways also invited reporters to the tunnel construction site on the Cisumdawu toll road. In section II the toll road will indeed be built a tunnel or tunnel along 472 meters located in Bukit Cilengsar. Hediyanto said that by building the tunnel, in addition to saving work time, it is also more cost-effective than having to split a hill.

He continued, with tunneling techniques, the budget that could be saved reached 90 percent. Head of the Cisumdawu Toll Work Unit (Satker), Wida Nurfarida said, the NATM method is one of the manual methods by providing reinforcement to the top of the soil structure and then dredging the ground using an excavator. With this technique every day can dig around 60-80 cm. Work is carried out from two directions and planned to be completed in 28 months.

"The construction cost of the tunnel construction is worth Rp. 800 billion," said Wida.

The Cisumdawu toll road has a total length of 61,675 Km which is divided into six sections. Section I Cileunyi-Rancakalong (12,025 km), Section II Rancakalong-Sumedang (17.05 km), Section III Sumedang-Cimalaka (3.7 km), Section IV Cimalaka-Legok (8.2 km), Section V Legok- Ujung Jaya (16.42 km) and Section VI Ujung Jaya-Dawuan (4.23 km).
