Jakarta- The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to encourage the completion of new toll roads in various regions. The construction of the massive toll road was carried out aimed at increasing inter-regional connectivity in order to reduce logistics costs as mandated by the Nawa Cita of the Government of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla in increasing the competitiveness of the Indonesian people.

"Through the PPP scheme, the government aims to overcome the funding gap (financial gap) in infrastructure, especially toll roads for the sake of timely completion, so that it can provide tangible benefits for the country and society," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

In the last three years (2015-2017), the length of new toll roads in Indonesia has increased by 332 Km. While from January to September 2018, the length of toll roads that have been operating is 136.1 km. Furthermore, from October to December 2018 it is targeted to be ready to operate as many as 13 new toll roads with a total length of 468.1 Km.

In more detail, based on data from the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PUPR, in October 2018 it is planned that there will be four new toll roads with a length of 109 Km ready to operate, namely the Section 3 and 4 Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road sections (37.3 km) and Pemalang-Batang Toll Road segment Sewaka-Simpang Susun (SS) Pemalang segment (5.4 km), Solo-Ngawi Toll Road segment Sragen-Ngawi SS segment (50.9 km) and Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road Section Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong ( 15.4 km).

In November 2018 it is targeted that 2 new toll roads will be ready for operation, namely the Pemalang-Batang Toll Road sections I and II (SS Pemalang-Batang) with a length of 33.8 km and the Semarang-Solo Toll Road sections 4 and 5 for Salatiga-Kartasura 32, 5 km.

In the closing year (December 2018), 7 toll roads with a total length of 292.8 km are ready to operate. The seven toll road sections are part of the Trans Java and Sumatra Toll Road sections, namely Section 1-5 of the Batang-Semarang Toll Road Section (75 km), the Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road segment of the Wilangan-Kertosono segment financed by the State Budget (39.1 km), the Toll Road Kertosono-Mojokerto section 4 (0.9 km), Relocation of the 6.3 km Porong-Gempol Toll Road (Porong-Kejapanan), Gempol-Pasuruan Toll Road section 3 Pasuruan-Grati (12.2 km), Pasuruan- Toll Road section Probolinggo section 1-3 Grati-Probolinggo Timur (32.4 km), and the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road Package 1-4 along 126.9 km.

Japek 2 Elevated Toll Road Development Progress

Meanwhile, the construction of the Jakarta-Cikampek 2 Elevated (Japek 2) toll road which aims to unravel the congestion at the toll road has now reached 49.4%. The 38 km toll road section starting from Cikunir SS to Karawang is targeted to be completed by the end of March 2019.

Minister Basuki said that with the Japek Toll 2 it will separate long distance toll users from short distance users. Motorists who travel long distances can use Japek 2 Toll and get off at the end of the elevated toll road, so that it will parse the density and cut the travel time, both vehicles that go to industrial areas in Karawang or Cibitung as well as those heading to Cikampek - Semarang and Padalarang - Bandung.

"The construction of this toll road is part of the Trans Java toll road that will be connected at the end of 2018. The existence of this toll road will certainly facilitate the movement of people and goods, and cut logistics and delivery time so that it can be more efficient," explained Minister Basuki some time ago.

This toll road is an initiative of a business entity (unsolicited project) with concession rights held by PT. Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek with construction costs of Rp 13.53 trillion. The elevated toll road construction costs are higher compared to ordinary (at-grade) toll construction.

"I ask the consultants and the implementing contractor to comply with the SOP for occupational safety and health (K3), as well as the implementation time discipline. Do not be saggy and do not underestimate the things that pose a risk of accidents so that they can achieve zero accidents, "said Minister Basuki while reviewing the construction site of Japek II Toll Road some time ago.
