The Ministry of Public Works and Public Works Cooperates with the Army of the Army to Build 132 km of the East Kalimantan and Kaltara Border Roads

Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) Region XII-Balikpapan, the Directorate General of Highways and Engineers of the Indonesian Army has signed 6 work packages for the construction of border roads in East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Province in length 132 km worth IDR 330.72 billion, in Jakarta, Monday (29/1/18).
The construction of border roads in Kalimantan is one of the priorities of the Ministry of PUPR to realize Nawa Cita President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla to develop Indonesia from the periphery in order to protect the Republic of Indonesia.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono some time ago said that the development of a strategic value border road with the function of national defense and security as well as opening isolation and increasing economic growth in the border region.
The Ministry of PUPR targets the border road in Kalimantan to reach 1,921 km in total by 2019. The progress of the construction of the Kalimantan border road until 2017, namely in the Province of West Kalimantan, along 850 km has broken 742.41 km, East Kalimantan along 244 km has penetrated 167.07 km and 827 km of North Kalimantan along 673 km. The condition of the road that has been penetrated is not entirely asphalted but still exists in the form of pavement which will gradually be improved in quality.
Director General of Highways Arie Setiadi Moerwanto explained that the two road segments whose contracts were signed were in East Kalimantan Province, namely the 15 km West Kalimantan - Tiong Ohang (Zeni) 1 toll road, the Long Pahangai - Long Boh (Zeni) 2 sections with a total of 20 km the contract value is IDR 87.45 billion.
While the construction of 4 border road segments in Kaltara that were signed by the contract are Long Nawang - Long Pujungan (Open Forest) 1 sections along 30 km, Long Nawang - Long Pujungan (Open Forest) 2 along 30 km, Long Pujungan - Long Kemuat - Langap (Buka Forest) 3 along 20 km and Long Pujungan - Long Kemuat - Langap (Open Forest) 4 along 17 km. The total contract value of the four segments is Rp 243.27 billion.
Arie added that the people on the Kalimantan border road were already waiting for the construction of the road because the construction of the access road would accelerate growth in every sector.
"Do it well, according to the specifications, volume and quality of work. Today the National Movement for Construction Safety has been launched, the design is actually checked to the method of its implementation," said Arie Setiadi.
In addition to the road construction contract, a 3 package contract was signed for preservation activities, namely the preservation of the 1.29 km Sangata Port Access - Maloy Port Access with the contractor PT. Hamdan Sari, Simpang Perdu-MA section. Wahau along 3 km with the contractor PT. Alvi Sinar Abadi and the preservation rehabilitation of Gunung Tabur - Tanjung Batu along 4 km from the contractor of PT Swadaya Bhakti Guna. The total contract value is IDR 66.51 billion.
