The construction of the Kendari Bay Bridge in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018. This was conveyed by the Head of the National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) Region VI Deded P. Sjamsudin when accompanying a group of House of Representatives Commission V members during a working visit to Southeast Sulawesi on Monday-Wednesday (21-23 / 3).
"The Kendari Bay Bridge Project aims to connect the Old City with Poasia, develop container port activities and the industrial area of the Lapulu area, as well as save vehicle operating costs, distance and travel time from the Old City to Poasia," Deded said.
He continued, Kendari Bay Bridge has a length of 1.3 Km and is a multi-year project with a value of Rp729 billion. Construction has begun since the groundbreaking last February. Obstacles in this project include land acquisition on the side of Kota Lama and Poasia which have not been completed, thus hampering development mobilization.
"Activities to clean up dangerous metals (sea mines) along the bridge have not yet been carried out, so water works cannot be done either," Deded continued.
Governor Sultra Nur Alim, who accompanied the House of Representatives Commission V Kunker, hopes that there will be more attention from representatives of the people in the House Commission V regarding the construction of the Kendari Bay Bridge Project. Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission V and leader of the Southeast Sulawesi Kunker entourage, Michael Watimena said, Kunker's goal was to see firsthand the progress of development in Southeast Sulawesi, particularly in the field of Public Works and Public Housing, road and bridge infrastructure.
"Kunkers are conducted to absorb aspirations and to know various problems in the Kendari area. Specifically related to infrastructure development that has been and will be funded by the State Budget. The results of this work visit will be followed up immediately at the Commission V meeting in the coming session, "explained Michael. (ange & tina)
