BINA MARGA (SEMARANG) - Ahead of the Eid Al-Adha Long Weekend holiday season that began on Thursday afternoon (31/08), the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR, Arie Setiadi Moerwanto conducted a review of the Semarang-Pantura Jateng-Brexit route as far as 170 km. Arie was accompanied by the Director of Freeway, Urban and Regional Road Facilitation, Soebagiono, and the Head of the National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) VII, Heri Marzuki.

"We will check the national road to prepare for the Eid Al-Adha holiday, which starts this afternoon," Arie said. He said Thursday afternoon all road works had been completed or temporarily stopped. It is hoped that the national road in the direction of Semarang can be better than the 2017 mudik yesterday.

Heri Marzuki said that on Thursday morning there was still road reconstruction work in the Batang area (64km from Semarang) but he promised that the work would be completed by Thursday afternoon. "So the reconstruction should have been completed yesterday but because the asphalt spreading device was damaged so it was delayed. God willing, this afternoon is finished, we are looking for a replacement device," said Heri.

In addition to the work at this point, Heri said that all road works, including reconstruction, bridges, widening, etc. will be stopped and resumed on h + 3 after Eid al-Adha.

The flow of Eid al-Adha holidays in the city of Semarang this time will also be smoother after the operation of the 1.3 km Underpass Jatingaleh as reviewed, Wednesday. This underpas is located on the Teuku Umar-Setiabudhi Road section and consists of three items of development, namely the Chivalry Underpass, the Jatingaleh Bridge, and the Gombel Underpass.

Underpas worth Rp. 68 billion were built at the point of traffic due to several level intersections, bottlenecks due to differences in road width, differences in the number of lanes, and the high volume of vehicles at certain hours.

Even so, the Director General of Highways urged the public to familiarize themselves with the new path at the underpass because the physical shape of the road was very different from before. "The conditions should be better, because there was one direction now, two directions and then the deviation of the plot is gone," Arie explained. He also instructed the Head of BBPJN VII to refine the transition of the old and new paths. (Ian)
