Based on the Minister of Public Works Regulation 3rd year 2019, the Directorate General of Highways has the task of organizing the formulation and implementation of policies in the field of road management in accordance with the provisions of legislation.
The Directorate General of Highways holds functions:

1. Formulation of policies in the field of road management in accordance with the provisions of legislation;
2. Implementation of policies in the field of national road administration;
3. Implementation of policies in the field of strengthening connectivity which is a national priority;
4. Preparation of norms, standards, procedures and criteria in the field of road administration;
5. Providing technical guidance and supervision in the field of road administration;
6. Implementation of evaluation and reporting in the field of road administration;
7. The administration of the Directorate General of Highways; and
8. Implementation of other functions provided by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing.
