Durable Coating Systems for Steel Bridges - Transportation Infrastructure - Roads, Highways, Bridges, Airports and Mass Transit
Kategori: Bridge/Jembatan
The Federal Highway Administration 100-Year Coating Study was
initiated in August 2009 to identify coating systems that can provide 100 years
of virtually maintenance-free service life at comparable costs to the existing
coating systems, even in adverse environments. Eight coating systems were
selected for the study—three three-coat systems consisting of organic,
inorganic, and moisture-cured zinc-based primers; four two-coat systems with
various combinations of zinc-based primers and organic top coats; and a
single-coat system of calcium sulfonate alkyd. One design innovation feature
was the employment of 18- by 18-inch large test panels that contained welding
joints and angle attachments using bolts and nuts to closely simulate realistic
conditions that are encountered in bridges in the field. All coating systems
were evaluated under accelerated laboratory testing and three outdoor
exposure conditions, namely natural weathering and natural weathering with
salt spray in McLean, VA, and outdoor testing at the Golden Gate Bridge in -
Constructing a Bridge: An Exploration of Engineering Culture, Design, and Research in Nineteenth-Century France and America
Kategori: Bridge/Jembatan
This book has been long in the making, and along the way I have acquired many debts to family members, teachers, colleagues, institutions, librarians, and archivists. I owe the greatest debt to Edwin Layton, my teacher and mentor, who has aided the realization of this book in countless ways, and whose commitment to the highest
intellectual and scholarly standards continues to pose a creative challenge. Thanks go also to James Hippen, who introduced me to the world of history of technology
and set me to studying the history of suspension bridges. -
Computer Aided Bridge Engineering (Detail Design of Pre-Stressed Concrete I-Girder / Box-Girder Bridges)
Kategori: Bridge/Jembatan
The book Computer Aided Bridge Engineering is for detail design of PSC I-Girder
and Box-Girder Bridge Superstructure, Integral Bridge Abutments, Piers along with
Foundations.
By using the AASHTO-LRFD Standard, British Standard Eurocode II and IRC
(Indian Roads Congress) Standard, the design of the deck slab and cantilever slab are
done by calculating bending moments, shear forces, bending resistance in transverse
direction, bending resistance in longitudinal direction, checking flexural cracking. The
design of PSC I-girders is done for bending moments and shear forces by dead load,
super imposed dead load (SIDL) and live loads (LL). The shrinkage strain, creep strain
and effect of temperature rise and fall are also determined. The design is complete for
pre-stressing cables, end anchorages, un-tensioned reinforcements, end cross girders, and
shear connectors.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND INFRASTRUCTURE DECISION MAKING ISSUES AND ADAPTATION MEASURES
Kategori: Pavement/Perkerasan
According to the National Research Council (NRC) and others,
infrastructure such as roads and bridges, wastewater systems, and National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) centers are vulnerable to
changes in the climate. Changes in precipitation and sea levels, as well as
increased intensity and frequency of extreme events, are projected by NRC
and others to impact infrastructure in a variety of ways. When the climate
changes, infrastructure typically designed to operate within past climate
conditions may not operate as well or for as long as planned, leading to
economic, environmental, and social impacts. This book examines the impacts
of climate change on roads and bridges, wastewater systems, and NASA
centers; the extent to which climate change is incorporated into infrastructure
planning; factors that enabled some decision makers to implement adaptive
measures; and federal efforts to address local adaptation needs, as well as
potential opportunities for improvement.

BRIDGES’ DYNAMICS
Kategori: Bridge/Jembatan
This introductory chapter presents a brief historical review of bridge structures. From ancient times up
to present days, bridge engineering is a continuously developing field of science although various construction
materials have been used. From stone and wood in the past to concrete and structural steel at the present, various
types of bridges have been designed and constructed. The most representative types of bridges are given
schematically of in photographs. -
BRIDGE VIBRATION AND CONTROLS NEW RESEARCH
Kategori: Bridge/Jembatan
Through the continuous development of science and technology, the problems of bridge
vibrations become more prominent. By the extensive application of high performancematerials, the ever-increasing span length of bridges, and the continuous increase of train
speed and vehicle load, all attribute to the related problems caused by bridge vibrations
(Frýba, 1999; Yang and Wu, 2002; Xia and Zhang, 2005). The bridge vibration may increase
the internal force of the structure, and cause local fatigue damage of the structural members,
or produce vibration deformation. The acceleration of the bridge deck can influence safety
operations or passenger comfort of the vehicle; and, even in serious cases, completely destroy
the bridge. Therefore, vibration is one of the important factors that influence the structural
safety and normal operation of the bridge, and thus has attracted more attention in recent
years. -
BASIC CIVIL ENGINEERING
Kategori: Pavement Material/Bahan PerkerasanPavement Material/Bahan Perkerasan
This book covers introduction to the Civil Engineering branch giving idea about surveying,
building materials and construction, transportation, traffic road safety. It is difficult for a
student to look for the required materials from specialized books on these subjects of civil
engineering. Hence there is need for a book on this course.
The author from his experience in teaching these subjects has written this book for
the benefit of students studying in various Indian universities. The book is made student
friendly by using simple language, illustrating with neat fig·ures and solving problems
systematically. It is hoped that the faculty and students will accept it widely. Suggestions
for improvements are most welcome from the readers. -
