Abstract
Dalam tulisan ini dibahas mengenai prinsip dan metoda stabilisasi dari tiang kapur pada tanah lembek. Suatu study yang dilakukan di China untuk stabilisasi tanah-tanah lembek dengan tiang kapur telah membuktikan bahwa tiang kapur tersebut cukup efektif sebagai stabilisator pondasi tanah lembek. Kadar air dan angka pori dari butir tanah (soft mucky clay) dapat direduksi sedemikian rupa dan kekuatan geser tanah meningkat sampai sekitar 1,13 ``````~ 4,50 kali setelah terjadi reaksi antara kapur (tiang kapur) dengan tanah tersebut. Analisa ekonomi menunjukan bahwa harga atau biaya pondasi tiang kapur adalah jauh lebih murah dibandingkan dengan harga pondasi tiang dari beton yang dilaksanakan pada kondisi geologi yang sama.
