Author Guidelines
Manuscript Writing Guidelines
The editors accept scientific manuscripts/papers related to roads and bridges from both inside and outside the Road and Bridge Research and Development Center. Internal and external editors will review the submitted manuscripts and have the right to reject any manuscript that does not meet the requirements.
The manuscript should be the result of research or studies that have not been and will not be published in any other print media.
Manuscripts must be written in Indonesian, submitted in electronic format using Microsoft Word 2010, along with two printed copies. The manuscript should not exceed 15 pages, including the abstract, figures, tables, and references. If the manuscript exceeds 15 pages, the editor reserves the right to edit it, and if necessary, will consult with the author.
The manuscript should be organized as follows:
Introduction: Title, author’s name, abstract (both abstract and keywords should be written in Indonesian and English, in italic font).
Main body: Introduction, literature review, hypothesis, methodology, results and analysis, discussion, conclusions and recommendations, and acknowledgments.
Final section: Symbols (if needed), a minimum of 10 references (mandatory) in the form of recent journals or books, and appendices (if any).
The title should be as concise as possible, accurately reflecting the content, and should not allow for varied interpretations. The title should be centered, written in capital letters, in both Indonesian and English.
The author’s name should be written:
Below the title, without academic titles, starting with a capital letter, centered, and not prefixed with a numeral; if there are multiple authors, their names should be written on one line.
The full name should include the institutional address and city; if there are multiple authors, all addresses should be included.
The abstract should include the problem, objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions (between 150-250 words), written in one paragraph, in both Indonesian and English. Avoid using abbreviations in the abstract. Below the abstract, at least 5 keywords should be listed.
Tables and figures should be titled and clearly described. The table title should be above the table, aligned to the left; the figure title should be below the figure, aligned to the left.
Tables and figures should not have borders; tables should use the "simple table 1" style.
Figures, photos, and graphs should be in color.
The sources of tables and figures should be listed below them.
For books: Author (last name followed by first name) and publication year. Book title. City. Publisher.
For journals: Author (last name followed by first name) and publication year. "Article title". Journal title or Proceedings title. Volume (issue): pages.
For internet works: URL and date accessed.
If an author’s name appears more than once in the references, the second and subsequent entries do not need to repeat the name, just replace it with dots (…).
The manuscript should be written on A4-sized paper, single-spaced, with two columns, and a 1 cm gap between columns.
Margins: 3 cm for the top and bottom, and 2.5 cm for the left and right sides. A new paragraph should be indented by one cm from the left margin, with no additional spacing between paragraphs, 10 pt spacing between paragraphs and subheadings, and no additional spacing between sub-subheadings and the paragraph text.
All text should be in Times New Roman font.
Foreign words should be italicized; if there is an Indonesian equivalent, the foreign word should be written in parentheses, and subsequently, only the Indonesian term should be used. Numbers should be written numerically, except at the beginning of sentences.
Table and figure presentation rules:
Cited references (in-text citations) should include the author’s name and publication year, written in parentheses. Example: (Calvez 2004). For direct quotes, add the page number (Calvez 2004, 73).
References and bibliography should follow the Chicago Manual of Style (Author-Date System), listed alphabetically by the author’s name.
