This report describes the controlled demolition of 100,000 square feet of post-tensioned slab, which was necessitated by suspicion of damage due to fire. The saw cuttings procedure was used to neutralize over 900 post tensioned tendons. One of the strongest earthquakes ever to hit California shook hundreds of post tensioned buildings on October 17, 1989, with an intensity of 7.1 on the Richter scale.
