Abstract

ABSTRACT
The dominance of motorcycles in traffic flow on roads in Indonesia requires special attention due to a fact that variety of traffic parameters has not considered the effect of changes in the proportion of motorcycles yet. Equivalent value is one of the key factors in the evaluation of traffic performance that needs to be adjusted as a consequence of the proportions of a motorcycle. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of a passenger car equivalent (pce) for different proportions of motorcycles and analyze its influence. The method of pce calculation employs the value of headway. Analysis shows that the greater the proportion of motorcycle, the higher the value of pce. The pce values obtained has a range in between 1.143 to 2.919.
Keywords: proportion of motorcycle, traffic flow, pce, headway, outer urban.
