Comprehensive Evaluation of Five Sensors Used To Measure Pavement Deflection

Trr No. 1355 Pavement Design, Management, And Performance, pp. 27-36
The main two parameters studied were the accuracv and precision of each sensor. These parameters were studied in a laboratory environment to minimize the effects of uncertainties that mav affect the results. Various impact shapes und duration were investigated. The magnitude of deflection was also varied over a wide range. In addition, factors such as cost and fieldworthiness were also considered. It was found thin lot pavement evaluation. geophones appear to he the optimum sensors. Geophones, if used properly. will provide adeyuatc accuracv and precision at minimal cost.
