Study on the Grade Evaluation of Highway Tunnel Cracks Based on PFC Simulation and BP Neural Network

In China, there are 15,181 highway tunnels with a total length of 14,039.7 km have been put into service by 2016. Tunnel lining cracks is the most critical risk, therefore, how to control the structural safety of highway tunnels has become one of the prominent issues. In this paper, effects of length, width, depth and position of highway tunnel lining cracks on the safety of lining structure has been studied based on PFC discrete element model. BP neutral network algorithm is also introduced to select critical factors for grading and assessment to establish an assessment system for highway lining crack.
