Following the revision of the specifications of the Japan roads association for the design and fabrication of steel highway bridges and welded steel highway bridges, specifications for the design of composite beams and bolted joints were published and completed the system of specifications for steel highway bridges. The specifications were then further revised to include riveted connections. The book covers the specifications in two parts:- (1) common specifications - general provisions; railings, expansion joints and others; and, records. (2) steel bridges - general provisions; allowable stress; general requirements for members; connections and splices; connection with high-strength bolts; sway bracings and lateral bracings; slabs; floor system; plate girders; composite girders; trusses; arches; cables; steel tubular structures; rigid frames; and, construction. /TRRL/
