This book is a general information and tutorial manual for using PLAXIS application. PLAXIS is intended to provide a bridge between practical soil engineers and theoretical specialist. It is often the case that practical soil engineers consider that non-linear finite element computations would be too cumbersome and too time-consuming for regular analyses. It is therefore necessary for theoretical specialist to bridge this gap by designing robust and easy-to-use computational procedures. The PLAXIS research and development team has worked to ensure that PLAXIS is straight-forward to use as well as being theoretically rigorous. As a result, many geotechnical engineers world-wide are using the code.
