This general report reviews and summarieses 15 papers submitted to the session on Mitigating measures. An asset management system for underground structures is introduced to help ingrastructure owners or clients make decisions about contruction and repair. The significance of reducing tunneling- or excavation-indeced displacement and instability withing soft ground is described.
