Railway bridges have several risks, that road bridges do not have. Some might argue that road
and railway bridge are two different structures. Railway bridge are more strongly a system in the railway network
and possible problems cause heavy disturbance to traffic much further than just the bridge site. For this
reason railway bridge cannot be managed just as deteriorating structures. Managing a railway bridge is constantly
updating of risk analysis and alternative cost estimates.
