The report describes the results of traffic studies carried out up to 12 months after the opening of the experiment and of travel and attitude surveys carried out up to 6 months after opening. Accident data collected over 6 months were insufficient to enable any conclusions to be drwn on the effect of the routes on the safety of cyclists. Though cycle use was no significantly changed by the availability of the cycle routes, the scheme was outstandingly popular with cyclists, pedestrians, residents and motorists alike.
