Improving the Performance of Stilling Pond Storm Sewage Overflows



The Stilling pond has been found to be one the most effective types of storm overflow chamber (technical committee report, 1970; storm sewage separation and disposa, 1977) and is now in widespread use throughout the UK. It combines effective hydraulic control of the sewer flows with the ability to separate a high proportion of the polluting solids from the storm water that is allowed to overflow to be water course.
