<note>The model tests on the interaction between new constructions and adjacent existing buildings were summarized and analyzed from four aspects: the preparation methods of the model soil, the selection of pile model and tunnel model, the simulation methods of excavation process, and the loading methods of model tests. Several conclusions can be drawn as follows: (I) the influence of the superstructure stiffness and the pile cap is almost not considered in the past; (II) the influence of the sequence between installing the supporting structure and filling the soil still not be completely avoided, and more advanced supporting structure system should be designed; (III) most model tests on tunneling are based on two-dimensional hypothesis, and three-dimensional tests need to be conducted in the future; (IV) adverse influences of segment joints are seldom considered in the present tests on shield tunnels, and better tunnels model reflects the effect of segment joints should be adopted.
