<note>
In order to overcome the demerits of traditional beam(shell)-spring model and solid finite element model for shield tunnel lining, A new model based on generalized-node solid-shell and three dimensional joint element was introduced. The partition of unity-based finite element method was employed to establish a generalized-16 nodes hexahedron element to model tunnel lining, in which the element possess of three dimensional geometric and mechanic behavior and it’s performance is greatly improved by high order local cover function in coarse mesh so the mesh generation process is evidently simplified. Based on the partition of unity-based finite element method and the theory of combinational elements a three dimensional combination joint element was also established which compose of surface contact elements for segment & longitudinal joint and embedded bolts. The new combination joint element can be used to simulate the details of bolts, interleaver and local contact behaviors and the mesh generation process is comparatively convenient. The two present elements were combined to establish a new shield tunnel structure model. In the end the new model was employed to analysis a typical shield tunnel lining with segment seams in stagger.
