<note>The International Airports Projects (IAP) of the Ministry of Defence and Aviation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, approached the Research Institute of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM/RI) to undertake a study to develop a rational pavement design method for Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) airport passenger apron pavement for Kingdom-specific conditions. The design method is to be based on in-situ evaluation of apron pavement slabs at the newly built King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) in Damman. This study will lead to an improved understanding of aircraft loading/pavement/environment interactions for Kingdom-specific conditions, which in turn will lead to development of an improved PCC pavement design methodology for airports in the Kindgom.</note>
