Developments of non-destructive techniques for insitu assessment of conrete over the past 35 years are reviewed. The effects of changing demands by engineers drived by industrial circumstances, including a shift in focus from strength to durability and integrity assessment, are traced in relation to equipment and documentation developments. Future needs, including technology transfer and tarining, are considered. (Rak 3)
