 <note>Ground movement control is of paramount imporance in the construction of a new Metro line in Barcelona gven the large diameter of the excavation and the need to cross heavily built areas. A bariety of construction procedures for ground movement control are envisaged. In the paper three examples from the early part of the project are descrbed. They involve: (i) the installation of a screen of jet grouted columns, (ii) compensation grouting, and (iii) structural jacking.&#13;
