To predict settlement damage on adjacent buildings due to excavation indeced ground movements, the limiting tensile strain (LTS) method is currently used in the design stage of projects in urban surrounding. In order to make the method applicable in practice engineering, the developers of this method assumpstions from structural point of view and its impact on the calculated tensile strains in the buildings. Suggenstiond are made for an improved useof the method.
