The Canterbury Accelerated Pavement Testing Indoor Facility (CAPTIF) has been measuring elastic strain in unbound pavements for more than 40 years. This paper documents a brief history of the approaches used at CAPTIF, the validation of the systems, the development of the latest system which has been built on a scientific/industrial measurement platform from National Instruments (NI), and potential improvements into the future.
