 Bridge Maintenance, Safety, Management, Resilience And Sustainability Bridge inspections are an important part of the bridge management cycle. In addition to being a fundamental part of the safety assurance of the road network, inspections collect important information for decision making on maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation needs. There is a continuous improvement process in bridge inspection. In the current study, we sought to address the issue of how to collect bridge inspection data more efficiently and accurately. Together with several transportation agencies, a new bridge inspection tool has been developed. Dubbed SmartBMS, this inspection tool is a BMS on a hand-held touch screen smartphone using the Windows Mobility operating system.
