 <note>Talaud Island is a new district that is  development of Sangihe and Talaud regency, North Sulawesi province in 2000. Talaud Islandis oneof 199 disadvantageregions in Indonesia and remain isolated due to various limitations of the basic infrastructure , including roads. Infrastructure development in the Talautdistrict, North Sulawesi, particularly road  in Karakelong island, which has been performed using imported aggregate of Palu - Central Sulawesi, while on the island there are a lot of aggregate quarriesbut have not been efficiently used, becausethe available aggregates,visually,  is not good in quality.Talaud island beside has economic constraint in development such as construction cost, it also has natural constraint because it is  separated by sea from main  islands. Consequently, some efforts are required to solve this  natural problem in order to develop infrastructures, especially roads. One of the solutions is the efficient use of  available aggregate. This study aims to find out the potential use of local aggregate of Talaut especially from Karakelongisland as road pavement materials such as for asphaltic mixtures, base, sub-base or as shoulder materials.  This paper discusses only limited to laboratory testing using the aggregates taken from some quarriesinKarakelong,  Melongguane , Beo, Rainis, BawonBaru, Niampak and Tarohan. The study results reveal that there are many aggregates quarries in  district that can be used either as materials for asphalt mixture or as a base material for class A,  but not used for Class B and Class S. Aggregates from some quarries like BawonBaru, Melong, Beo and Rainis will provide an excellent carrying capacity when stabilized with 3 % -7 % of cement.</note>
