<note>This paper address the development and evaluation of a fracture resistance parameter referred to as J-integral and denoted by Jc to evaluate the fracture resistance of hot-mix asphalt (HMA). Jc is determined from the load-deformation from the load-deformation data of a simple three-point bending fracture test using notched semi-circular specimens. The test specimens prepared from standard Superpave Gyratory compacted HMA samples.Thirty four filed mixes were used to evaluate the mix design parameters that affect Jc . All mixes were designed and constructed in accordance to the Hveem mix design method. However, the binders and aggregate structure of the mixes were in accordance to the superpave specifications. Result indicated that Jc is sensitivite to mux design components including the asphalt binder grade and content, and the aggregate structure. Initial conclusions suggest that Jc could be used a screening tool at the mix design stage to assess the mix propensity to fracture</note>
