<note>In situ tests, mainly the Standard Penetration Test, SPT, are commonly used in Brazilian foundation practice. This paper presents the estimating of ultimate bearing capacity of a 14.0m deep instrumented precast concrete pile with 0.18m diameter, that was driven in an experimental research site at the University of Campinas — Unicamp. The soil of the site is characterized as residual of Diabase. The soil is unsaturated up to 18.0m depth and its geotechnical characterization obtained by laboratory and field tests is presented here. The skin friction and point resistance were obtained by an instrumented load test. The load test results were compared with results obtained by methods to predict the bearing capacity of the foundation element using the Standard Penetration Test with torque measurement, SPT-T, Cone Penetration Test, CPT, and Flat Dilatometer Test, DMT, results</note>
