Accelerated prism testing of a range of RCA indicated that they were all likely to be non expansive. This supports the change in general classification of ASR reactivity of RCA from high to normal. Photographic examination of the RCA tended to over-estimate the likely reactivity of RCA when compared to measured expansions in the prism tests. The possibility of pessimum proportions developing when RCA is used as a partial replacement for natural aggregate needs to be considered. This will depend on the constituents in the particular RCA and natural aggregate used.
