  <title>Advances In Cable-supported Bridges</title>
 </relatedItem>
 <note>Longer spans are more sensitive to loading (wnd, seismic vibration, traffic), monitoring the loading and observing the structure's response has become an essential condition indicator. Also several older cable-stayed structures are showing sign of damage, often caused by wind-induced vibrations and corrosion. Inspection and monitoring can provide confidence in structural integrity and enable early detection of potential problems. In order to protect the substantial investment to design, construct, operate and maintain these bridges, owners must consider ways to mitigate the risk of loss and extend the functional life of the bridge . The paper describes a comprehensive risk based, monitoring, inspection, and maintenance management system that has been successfully utilized on several signature bridges including the Rion Antirion in Greece, Penang bridge in Malaysia and france's Milleu and Seyssell</note>
