Police Forces throughout the country provide 'Better Driving' courses for members of the public. These courses attempt to improve their knowledge with the object of making them better drivers. Normally such courses consist of several lectures and a demonstration drive. Those students who participated in the study were given theoretical and practical (road) tests before and after they attended a course of police lectures and cources run by 10 different Police Forces were included in the study. A marked improvement in post-course performance resulted, both in students' knowledge of driving and also in their practical driving performance
