 <note>The paper shows how the &quot;two-reservoir&quot; model for urban storm runoff (nussey and sarginson, 1978) combined with a standard design storm profile can be used to compute explicit values of the maximun discharge from the pipe system draining an urban area, and the pipe sizes necassary to carry those discarges without surcharging. Using the model, there is no need for an i terative prosess beginning with trial pipe sizes. The results are presented in a from amenable to solution by micro-computer.&#13;
